Yamaha's RX-V750 audio/video receiver delivers high-quality, future-ready performance with ultimate surround processing--all at a remarkably affordable price. The RX-V750 offers the convenience of DVD-Audio/SACD-ready analog inputs alongside the latest 7.1-channel surround formats, 192 kHz/24-bit digital-to-analog conversion for all channels, and premium Yamaha sound technologies. When hooked up with the digital-audio output from a DVD-Video player or digital satellite receiver, the 100 watts-per-channel receiver (20 to 20,000 Hz into 8 ohms with 0.06 percent THD) handles standard 5.1-channel surround decoding for both major formats, Dolby Digital and DTS. In addition, the receiver processes Dolby Digital EX, Dolby Pro Logic IIx, DTS 96/24, DTS Neo:6, DTS-ES Matrix 6.1, and DTS-EX Discrete 6.1. The extended-surround formats (including Yamaha's own) create even more expansive soundfields through the use of an additional rear pair of surround speakers, resulting in 7 discrete, full-range signals in addition to the LFE (low-frequency effects) channel: front left/right, mid-surround left/right, rear-surround left/right, and a front-center channels.

A key benefit from a Yamaha receiver, of course, is Yamaha's proprietary signal processing, including Cinema DSP (digital soundfield processing), which creates aural "imaging" that not only makes your home sound like a theater, but also sounds better than most movie theaters. DVD-Audio and SACD can each deliver up to 6 channels of discrete, full-frequency sound at greater-than-CD resolution (in the case of DVD-A, that means 24 bits, 192 kHz sampling rate versus 16 bits, 44.1 kHz for CD). In stereo or surround, the sound from DVD-Audio and SACD is packed with detail, yet smoother and sweeter from than the sound from even the best standard CD players.

This receiver also comes fully equipped with Yamaha's YPAO system, which uses a small microphone (supplied) to analyze the acoustics of your room and, based on the results, make intelligent adjustments of various speaker parameters to provide the optimum sound at your primary listening position.

The receiver offers 7 stereo audio/video input connections (all with composite-/S-video, 2 with component-video), 1 stereo phono input (with ground), 1 set of multichannel (7.1) analog inputs for your DVD-Audio or SACD player, 6 fixed and assignable digital-audio inputs (great for DSS, CD, laserdisc, gaming consoles, or minidisc), and front-panel input connections for your camcorder or other spontaneous hookup. The receiver's video circuitry is high-definition ready, too (60 MHz bandwidth for the component-video circuits), and it will upconvert composite- to S-video and S-video to component-video (720p/1080i) to simplify TV hookups.

Nixon Shelley Watch - Women's Black, One Size Review

The shape, style is beautiful - very flattering. I would have given it 5 stars if it had come with 1/2 links. My ideal fit would require a 1/2 link. But I went with a slightly tighter fit and am still very happy with it. The champagne color is very nice with both gold and silver (it's not a yellow-based gold).

Pro's:
- Supports many book formats
- Has nice contrast ratio (darker blacks than e-ink)
- Lightweight and portable, fits within the inside pocket of a jacket, and even in a side pocket of a jeans pants
- Comes with a software CD (never used it), a USB charger and a reinforced (for the screen) pouch.
- Fast turn pages, responsive menu, good menu structure, reasonably solid OS.

Cons:
- The battery life is rather low. It's ok but compared to e-ink, this device has twice the battery capacity, and only a running time of 24 hours.
- the device has a USB 1.1 port, and transfer speeds are very slow!
- Rather low resolution (640x480 pix)
- Sometimes when a pixel is half black, half white (like on a border between text and no text) the pixel is flickering. Especially visible with smaller letter types.
- Mostly only good for text files with occasional pictures; pr pdf files with reflow; I prefer to read pdf files on larger devices though, because they lose formatting and images when displaying them reflowed.
- Weak slider bar on the left (for page turns)
- Buttons not very well placed for people with large hands
- Reading under very low light (eg candle light) is much harder to read than e-ink screens or paper books, due to the grey background.
- 'Perfect' font of 14pt is not available. Only 16pt, slightly too large text, or 12pt, slightly too small letters to read.
- Too expensive for what it's worth. A good price would be ~$49.99 -54.99 for this device.

Other thoughts:
- Use an external card reader to save your books to the SD card, and insert the card in the device, don't transfer the files directly to the SD card via the mini, because it takes forever (transfer speeds in the likes of ~150kb/s.

Reason to buy:
I bought mine for $39.99, you can look around and buy them for that price. This reader is worth the $40 price tag, even $50, but not more than that.

This device is a good device to read .epub, .mobi and .prc files on. I would not read .pdf or .rtf files on this one, without reflow. It's battery life makes it a pretty lousy .txt reader.

I would recommend the Aztak EZReader Pro over this one, it has a higher resolution, and similar price tag, and real e-ink (which means upto 2 months on battery life).

Hoya 82mm HD2 UV (Ultra Violet) 8-layer Multi-Coated Glass Filter Review

The Hoya HD2 UV filters have 8 layers of coating and are hard a heck. So hard in fact that they carry a lifetime warranty. If you're protecting a two thousand plus dollar lens, you want that hardness protecting the front element.

I have the 82mm model on my Canon EF 28-70mm f/2.8 L lens and could not be happier. The filter is really oil resistant and I simply can not make a fingerprint on it under normal conditions. I haven't tried scratching it but I'm guessing their claim of scratch resistance is true else they wouldn't offer a lifetime warranty.

It's thin and I see no vignetting at the widest end of the zoom. Ghosts are non-existent.

I also use a 49mm model on my Fuji X100S. That camera's cover does not really stay on with a filter attached, but the filter is so dirt and oil and scratch resistant, I feel as though I don't need one. On that camera ghosting can be a problem, but not with this HD2 UV filter.

Cost is high but if you want the best protection for your high dollar investment, this is the way to go. I would not recommend this line of filters for inexpensive or consumer grade gear (obviously not a consideration in the 82mm size since that's by definition a pro lens). It would not be worth it. Stick with a Hoya 72 mm HMC UV-0 or something like that. The optical effects are comparable.
