Product Description

Century Stands or "C" stands are an important component in the image makers arsenal of tools. The term "Century Stand" goes back to the early days of motion picture production. Before the introduction of artificial lighting, the stages would revolve to allow for continuous overhead lighting from the sun. Large reflectors would be positioned to bounce back or kick the overhead light up onto the stage and illuminate the set and actors. These reflectors were made in many sizes, but it seems the most popular was the 100 inch or "Century" sized reflector.

Matthews 40 Inch Century Stand with Sliding Leg, Grip Head, Arm, Maximum Height 10.5 feet , Supports 22 lbs., Chrome Review

Have used this on several location shoots since I've bought it. Has performed extremely well and I'm fairly certain this stand will outlast me. I will certainly buy another.

I'm using this primarily to hold 3 Speedlites in a 43" Westcott Apollo Orb. Works flawlessly, even when extended 10 feet up.

I recommend reading/watching a couple Youtube videos on how to work a C-Stand if this is your first. These things are rock solid - but they MUST be positioned correctly, otherwise you run the risk of having a very expensive (and potentially injurious) accident.
