VHF Hand Held RADIO 5W SUBMERSIBLE, NiCad - Alkaline Review
We have used Standard Horizon radios for over 10 years on 2 research vessels, starting with the HX255, with which we were very happy. We then switched to the 350S and found them very suitable as well. Unfortunately, with the HX370, there is a weak point in the transmit amplifier and it burns out regularly. I purchased 30 of these radios 2 years ago and have sent ALL of them back at least once for warranty repair. While I can't complain about the service because they have promptly repaired them and sent them back, they have done nothing to correct the problem. So I receive them, they get used and 4 to 6 months later they fail again. Big Hassle. I would not recommend this radio due to this issue. If you do have one you can turn down the transmit power and possibly avoid this problem, BUT why get a 5W radio if you can only use ~3W?Most of the consumer Reviews tell that the "VHF Hand Held RADIO 5W SUBMERSIBLE, NiCad - Alkaline" are high quality item.
